WHEN GRIEF COMES SUDDENLY (2016)
Advice on how schools can care for those of us who have experienced grief
When grief comes suddenly it becomes difficult to learn. What do we know about what pupils themselves think helps when something suddenly becomes heavy and difficult? 155 children and young people at secondary and primary school who have experienced sudden grief share their experiences and give advice so that you who work in and with schools in Norway can meet children and young people who are having a difficult time in the best possible way - so they feel like learning.
Children and young people spend so much time at school, so it is important that school is a safe place to be on both good and difficult days. It is therefore important that children and young people meet adults who create a safe space to show feelings, be honest, open and vulnerable.
"When grief comes suddenly" can help schools become wiser when it comes to meeting children and young people in grief.
Target group: Politicians, ministries, professionals and higher educational institutions.
"When grief comes suddenly" was made with support from the Egmont Foundation.
